Monsignor Louis F. Pioletti (1887-1972) was born in Corio, Diocese of Turin, Italy. Drawn to the priesthood from earliest youth, he studied at the Theological Seminary of Turin, and received his Doctor of Divinity degree in 1910. He was ordained the same year. Concerned by the spiritual and cultural difficulties of Italian immigrants in foreign countries, he was sent to St. Paul, Minnesota to tend the spiritual needs of Italians there.
